Dodo: Moving house made easy

Moving your gas and electricity service as a Dodo customer is easy - all it takes is a few details and you’re going to get connected on your suggested moving date.

Organising your move at least three business days in advance is important, however, so you don't miss your connection date. Dodo also offers an urgent connection fee option for customers who need a same-day connection; urgent fees apply. Gas connections can take up to three business days, too, so it’s important to plan ahead.

About Dodo Power and Gas

Dodo, a well-known name in the Australian Internet services market, has also emerged as a significant player in the energy sector.

Operating under the banner of Dodo Power and Gas, this division offers electricity to households across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. Additionally, they supply natural gas to customers in Victoria and select areas of New South Wales.

How to move your Dodo Power and Gas connections

If you’re already a customer with Dodo Power and Gas, you need to call them directly to organise your move. Dodo will need the following information:

  • The date you want to disconnect your current property from energy services
  • The date you want to connect your services to your new property
  • The address of the new property
  • Your ID and customer information for authentication

If you’re a new customer looking to switch over to Dodo’s energy services, then you can move by organising your move online and following the prompts or calling the Compare Energy team. If you’re in Queensland, you’ll need a Visual Safety Inspection appointment set up so it’s better to call directly to organise one.

Customers will need to ensure:

  • Clear, safe access to the electricity and gas meters
  • Main electrical switch is moved to the ‘off’ position
  • Plan for unexpected energy outages during the switch, especially for those on life support.

What about connection fees?

Both new and existing customers do not have to pay any new connection fees if they connect between 8am and 7pm, Monday to Friday.

If customers are connecting outside of these hours or on the weekend, after-hours connection fees may be applied and the fee itself varies by fuel and distributor.

Do you need to be there for connection?

Ideally, everyone wants to be there when their new connection is activated, but it really depends on where you live. If you’re in Victoria, New South Wales or South Australia, you don't have to be at the premises to have your property connected.

All you have to do is make sure that you’ve set the main electrical switch to the off position before you head out for the day.

Customers in Queensland do have to be at the premises on the day of connection as a Visual Safety Inspection is required by law.

How to disconnect power at your previous address

If you’re not an existing customer, contact your provider to disconnect your old address and receive your final bill.

For Dodo Power and Gas customers, call the support line to disconnect your old premises and follow the steps above.
